What is the AfOx Leadership Programme?

Designed in collaboration with Africa Oxford Initiative, the AfOx Leadership Programme is a bespoke course for Mastercard Foundation AfOx Scholars. Building on the success of the Skoll Centre’s Impact Lab, this two-year programme equips Mastercard AfOx Scholars with the skills needed to drive systemic change.

Leadership programme components

Year One
  • Leadership development: Complementing students' academic studies with co-curricular leadership development sessions. 
  • Cohort building: Building connections and community amongst participants through peer and practice-oriented learning. 
Year Two
  • Practice: Providing support structures to facilitate learning and development during participants’ placements for their ‘Ubuntu Year of Service’.  

Apply for the programme

The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program enables students from all African countries to pursue graduate studies at the University of Oxford. All students with an African nationality and residence who receive a conditional offer from the University are eligible for the scholarship.

AfOx

AfOx is a cross-university platform which facilitates equitable and sustainable collaborations between researchers based at the University of Oxford and African universities. Also, it focuses on increasing the number of African students pursuing postgraduate degrees at Oxford.
