The Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship at the University of Oxford Saïd Business School is proud to introduce The Web of Us, a new podcast that delves into the visible and invisible networks that shape our world. Hosted by Claire Wathen, a Skoll Centre Visiting Fellow, this engaging series explores connections in everything from our brains and nature to our communities and workplaces.

Each episode features two perspectives: one with a distinguished Oxford expert offering interdisciplinary insights, and the other with a global leader from industries like technology, art, and social change. These conversations uncover shared experiences, new perspectives, and innovative ways to connect, collaborate, and thrive.

Alongside her role as a Visiting Fellow, Claire Wathen is Managing Director of Global Alliances at the Skoll Foundation, where she developed the foundation’s global network strategy and launched initiatives like the Skoll Fellowship, Global Access Partnerships, and TEDx Skoll Series across Africa, Asia, and Latin America. She is also a co-creator of the Wasan Network and advises leaders in philanthropy and the nonprofit sectors. With a multi-disciplinary background in contemporary dance, philanthropy, and ecology, Claire applies network theory to drive social impact.

"As I’ve connected with people across Oxford and around the world, discussing their journeys and how connection manifests in their fields, it became clear that networks are a powerful lens that unites us all. The podcast grew from this idea—a way to share these emerging connections and bridge perspectives, inspiring us to see networks not just as tools, but as strategic assets and sources of abundance." Claire Wathen, Skoll Centre Visiting Fellow

Season One pairs Oxford experts with global practitioners across diverse fields, blending theoretical insights with practical applications. From approaching systems change with a hacker's mindset to understanding the importance of recognising environmental dynamics for success, The Web of Us provides invaluable perspectives.

The first season will be released throughout May 2025, featuring guests such as:

  • Paulo Savaget – Associate Professor of Engineering and Business, University of Oxford, and Skoll Centre Fellow
  • Paula Moreno – Former Minister of Culture, Colombia; Founder of Manos Visibles; Ford Foundation Trustee
  • Anne Makena – chemical biologist, Co-Director, Africa Oxford Initiative

Whether you are an entrepreneur, changemaker, or simply curious about building and understanding networks, The Web of Us is designed for you. The podcast is available on all major streaming platforms. Tune in and explore the power of connection with us here - The Web of Us
